About IACI

The Irish American Cultural Institute is a membership organization headquartered at 1 Lackawanna Pl, Morristown, NJ 07960-9859. Its mission is the preservation of Irish heritage by sponsoring such cultural programs as the Irish Way, a five-week summer cultural and educational program in Ireland for American teen-agers; the Irish Perception Series, securing noted scholars and authorities in Ireland to visit the chapters and make presentations; funding an Irish Artists in Residence Program; providing a scholarly Research Program, coordinating the Annie Moore Project (memorials to the first Irish immigrant to be processed through Ellis island in 1892); and the like. IACI programs have always explored and promoted the richness and diversity of Irish culture. It functions as both a nationwide membership organization and as an educational and grant-making foundation. Visit the National IACI site, at http://www.irishaci.org/.

About the Omaha Chapter of IACI

Meetings are normally on the last Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. unless a speaker from Ireland is on tour or it is necessary to accommodate the speaker's itinerary. The goals of IACI are accomplished by having international, national, and local speakers, entertainers, poets, and Seanachies (Irish Story Tellers), and occasional trips to areas with Irish presentations of interest. Unless otherwise noted, all meetings are held at Barrett’s Castle, 4330 Leavenworth Street in Omaha. All are welcome to attend a first meeting to experience the entertainment for that evening and meet the officers and chapter members.

A monthly newsletter keeps members apprised of meetings and special events. A free copy can be downloaded at left (PDF) or you may contact Newsletter Secretary John Stevens at cylonhorse@aol.com or 402-572-1153.

Membership

Yearly dues are $25 for "Chapter Members Only" (individual and family rate) which includes a monthly newsletter and directory, or $40 for a National Membership which includes automatic membership in the local chapter plus other literature benefits and participation in the national program.
