About EllisIsland

Ellis Island brings the Irish pub to America with traditional Irish songs and dance tunes. With strong vocals and over a dozen instruments, Mick Doyle and David Marsh deliver a versatile display of Irish music, humor and cabaret-style entertainment. Audiences will clap their hands and dance to traditional jigs and reels, sing along with ballads and pub songs, laugh to tales of Irish blarney, and wipe tears from their eyes to songs of Irish famine, war, and immigration.

Lead vocalist and guitarist Mick Doyle, born in Dublin, immigrated to the United States at the age of eighteen. Under the influence of his father and Luke Kelly, Mick began playing guitar at Sunday morning folk mass and then grabbed the bodhran (Irish drum) to attend traditional music sessions at O’Donoughue's pub and Mother Redcaps. “Doyle covers a lot of territory, delivering rousing sing-a-longs and haunting ballads with equal conviction” (St. Joseph, Missouri News-Press).

Multi-instrumentalist David Marsh has performed Irish music for nearly 25 years. Along with precise vocal harmonies, David’s musical arsenal includes the accordion, banjo, hammered dulcimer, piano, penny whistle, Northumbrian (English) bagpipes, spoons, bones, and bodhran. David has taken his music to thousands of children across Nebraska as an artist with the Nebraska Arts Council and Nebraska Humanities Council. “You have rainbows coming out of your eyes when you play that!” (a 3 year-old girl at one of David’s pre-school performances).
